Command and Control

The Command & Control Expertise Area provides solutions for mission control systems, simulation, data processing fusion and dissemination, modelling and C2I systems (Command, Control and Intelligence). The area addresses inter-disciplinary problems involving multiple heterogeneous and distributed systems (desktop or mobile) and it has developed strong capabilities in software modelling techniques. The work is mainly focused in the Space (Ground Segment Systems) and Defence & Homeland Security markets.

Mission Control is a space specific capability which has the responsibility to manage all information regarding monitoring and commanding, mission database, data archiving, mission planning and performance evaluation.

Simulation focuses on the development, validation, and operation of models and simulators of space, air and ground systems. These simulations are used mainly for operators training and systems’ validation. The main simulation infrastructure used is able to host a spacecraft and ground segment simulation.

Data Processing, Fusion and Dissemination cover all the space data processing chain, from reception of satellite data to end-user products dissemination. The complete processing chain includes payload calibration, image processing and geo-location, combination of data from different sensors and instruments and distribution to final consumers.

Modelling is the ability to represent complex systems through the usage of modelling standards obtaining an abstract system representation. The main areas of expertise cover architecture frameworks, definition of modelling frameworks, model driven development and data definition.

Hence, the focus of this area of expertise is on the development of infrastructure systems for monitoring and controlling spacecrafts (or other targets), as well as processing and disseminating the data acquired by their payloads. Our solutions cover the whole software life-cycle, from analysis and design to development and maintenance. Additionally, consultancy and scientific studies are also performed.
