Critical Software introduces information system for search and rescue at sea

13 Mar 2012

Critical Software – a company specialized in delivering reliable technologies for critical information systems – in partnership with the Portuguese Navy, will introduce its most recent information system to support search and rescue operations – Oversee Search and Rescue - at the SAR Europe 2012 event. This is the fifteenth edition of SAR Europe, an annual event that gathers civilian and military experts of the field from all over the world and that will take place in Dublin on March 15 and 16.

Oversee, developed by Critical Software in cooperation with the Portuguese Navy, is a line of products to support maritime operations, namely search and rescue, maritime supervision and environmental monitoring.
Using latest generation technology to provide its users with a set of innovative features, Oversee Search and Rescue seeks to answer the challenges felt daily by search and rescue professionals.

“This new product, currently undergoing validation at the Centre for Search and Rescue (MRCC) of Lisbon, will bring an integrated vision of the maritime scene, allowing for the correlation and the combination of information from several sources, the extraction of knowledge and the identification of relevant behaviour patterns. It will also bring the ability to preview incidents, while offering a set of tools to support decision making as well as command and control,” states Ricardo Maia, head of the Maritime Solutions business field.

"When we start to explore the system, which will happen after this validation phase, we expect a significant improvement in the ability to address and manage incidents, namely in the field of maritime search and rescue, with reflections on the quality of the service provided,” says the Navy, through its Operations Manager at the Centre for Maritime Search and Rescue of Lisbon.
