The scientific and technologic challenges that the different military and militarized forces enduringly face, can benefit from the capabilities that clearly are present in the Portuguese companies and universities. On the other hand, the mission of the Defence and Security institutions includes an objective that is markedly strategic for the national interests, which consists in the promotion of the social and economic segment of the country.

This said it becomes of the foremost importance to include the promotion of national innovation and competitiveness in the national defence strategy, factors which are essential to quickly overtake the hard times we are going through. Taking advantage of the unique opportunity that unites the main socioeconomic agents in the sector, we propose that we analyse past lessons, contributing for a national defence strategy in aiming to identify the main orientations to satisfy the Country's expectations for the future.

Gonçalo Quadros, Critical Software's CEO will present these issues on the 1st National Congress on Security & Defence to be held at the Conference Center, in Lisbon, Portugal, on between the 24th and 25th of June.
