Attesting the high level of R&D work that it produces, Critical Software publishes many papers and articles in reputed scientific and technical conferences and magazines. Below are a few illustrative R&D projects where Critical is or has been involved in the past:

SIMUAV: UAVs are pointed out as a key, enabling technology and market driver on the Defence & Aeronautics area. Its applications actually go far beyond that market, with Homeland Security, Environment Monitoring and Precision Farming being just a few examples. Critical has been researching & developing a capability on operational simulation of Unmanned Aeronautical Vehicles (UAVs). The advantage in simulated flight of UAVs is to reduce costs in the development phase, due to testing and validation of subsystems and ground control systems. Besides, it allows the definition and assessment of mission scenarios and the training of UAV operators.

Ambient Networks 2:is an Integrated Project co-sponsored by the European Commission under the Information Society Technology priority, within the 6th Framework Programme. The project addresses the strategic objective of "Mobile and Wireless Systems Beyond 3G". It will enable scalable and affordable wireless networking, while providing rich and easy-to-use communication services for all.

YES!VV: it’s a demonstration project in the software engineering field in Portugal – the Independent Software Verification and Validation processes – which presents the best practices that lead to cost reduction associated with software development and ,simultaneously, creating rigorous and excellent practices towards the software acquisition and development. The application of the ISVV methodology is an answer to guarantee the needs (independent) of quality and reliability related to the software development.

iDEAS TO iNCOME or iTi is a Critical program designed to allow the gathering, promotion and sharing of innovation throughout the company. iTi, while focused on shortcutting ideas to the market, has also contributed significantly to process improvement at Critical, fostering innovation in the way we delivery services and products.
