Quality has been a strategic issue at Critical since its foundation in 1998. Throughout time, the continuous improvement of software development processes in accordance with ISO 15504 standard, has allowed the company to reach a level of singular maturity in Portugal, and to certify its Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with ISO 9001:2000 standard using TickIT Scheme, becoming the only Iberian company with this certification. Critical was also the first Portuguese IT company to achieve the NATO/AQAP 2110 and AQAP 150 Certification and CMMI Maturity level 3.
Nowadays, Quality represents an important and distinctive factor and a competitive advantage for the company operating in an extremely competitive market. Quality processes and practices in Critical include organisation and management, engineering, support, control, audit and are tailored according to project and customer specific needs. This flexibility allows us to give the right answer to projects with different nature and critically levels.
The QMS improvement is implemented in a continuous basis and triggered by feedback from our customers in accordance with international standards and practices of software engineering, such as CMMI Models, ISO 15504 - Process Assessment (also known as SPICE - Software Process Improvement and Capability Determination), ISO 12207 - Software Life Cycles - as well as the European Space Agency (ESA) standards.
